Owls are messengers of the gods. They are in many religions. They are seen as Wise Ones. This part of the story I personally do not believe as I state below, if I did that hoot owl calling on the telephone poll every couple of nights would really bug me!. They were also seen as the harbinger of death and destruction. This was mostly due to the Owl being nocturnal. Humans are afraid of the dark and those that live in it. Some thought the Owl means death because the Owl was one of the first bird calls that tribes all over the world learned and it would summon the start of a battle. I am on the side that Owls are Wise Ones like that Owl that sat on the blind side of Athena or Diana to protect and serve them.
