While all Rototo socks are manufactured in Nara Prefecture, the town of Koryocho takes the lead in production. These double-layer socks are meticulously knitted by skilled craftsmen using a rare machine found exclusively in the town. Crafted with colored cotton for the surface fabric and undyed silk for the lining, these socks optimize the benefits of silk, including superior moisture absorption and heat retention, through finely knitted pile surface in the liner fabric.
The sock production in the northwestern part of Nara Prefecture is thus originated from the area’s centuries-long tradition of the weaving industry. And that is why Rototo places more value on manufacturing that requires a lot of discussion with factory craftsmen who preserve the tradition and history. Rototo’s socks can be made only with a combination of the right material, the right machine and craftsmanship. They aim to preserve the tradition inherited from their ancestors.
